Increase to in-scope disability services

On 1 July 2025 there were 89 registered disability providers that the Disability Services Commissioner (DSC) can take complaints about. These providers are registered by the Social Services Regulator (SSR).

In the past six months 40 more disability services have been registered by the SSR. These organisations provide disability services in Victoria with funding from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) or WorkSafe.

The SSR has a list of registered social service providers on their webpage. Disability services is one of the nine different classes of social services. We have the authority to handle complaints about disability services and not the other types of services that are delivered by social service providers.

Each newly registered disability service is contacted by the Commissioner and we share information about the 4As of responding to complaints, our Flyer called ‘Complaints about Victorian Disability Services‘ and we set them up to provide an Annual Complaints Report to DSC.

We want disability services to focus on their approach to handling complaints and ensure people feel that ‘It’s OK to complain!’
