International Day of People with Disability 2021

3rd December 2021

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is celebrated on 3 December as a UN observed day aimed at increasing public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability.

IDPwD is as an opportunity for our community to make positive changes to the lives of 4.4 million Australians with disability.

This year the DSC is partnering with the Victorian Equal Opportunities and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC)  and other organisations to promote human rights week by doing a small action each day to #MakeRightsReal.

Today we’re asking you to join the conversation this #IDPwD by sharing what you’re doing to help raise awareness, challenge stereotypes and break down barriers. If you aren’t sure what to do, check out this video about creating safe space for people to speak up about what they need.

Together we can make our community more accessible and inclusive for people with disability so that everyone has the opportunity to participate.

If you want to do more throughout the week you can:
