National Sorry Day - Tuesday 26 May

Australia's Aboriginal flag

26th May 2020

National Sorry Day is an Australia-wide observance held on May 26 each year. This day gives people the chance to come together and share the steps towards healing for the Stolen Generations, their families and communities.

It commemorates the anniversary of the formal apology made by the Rudd Government and the Parliament of Australia to Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in particular the Stolen Generations.

We would like to acknowledge the grief, suffering, loss and injustice experienced by members of the Stolen Generations.

On National Sorry Day DSC reaffirms our commitment to working in partnership to improve the lives of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
