This report details the work undertaken by DSC, including: 

  • 417 enquiries with information provided
  • 69 complaints assessed
  • 71 warm written referrals to 17 different organisations
  • 5 incident reviews.

Our report shows how we directed people to the right place and made referrals where needed. 

Two Notices of Advice were issued this year. One was in relation to a service provider regarding their complaints system. The other Notice was to an SDA service provider regarding information on how to complain. 

One hundred per cent of registered and regulated disability service providers submitted an Annual Complaints Report (ACR). This data showed 51% of complaints recorded were made by a person receiving services. 

DSC provided information to people with disability, families, advocates and the Victorian disability sector about the importance of speaking up as a means of improving disability services.  

DSC maintained strong working relationships with other safeguarding bodies, meeting regularly to discuss emerging issues and trends, and to ensure responsive communication between organisations.
