Restricting access to care facilities

decorative only, two people knocking on a door

22nd April 2020

The Chief Health Officer is restricting access to facilities where Victorians live and receive care. This will help protect elderly people, those with disability, people experiencing homelessness, and children and young people in secure welfare services from the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). People who live in these care facilities are especially vulnerable to the transmission of coronavirus, and may be critically at-risk if exposed.

Key restriction include (but are not limited to)

  • no more than two people can visit a resident together to provide care and support
  • each resident can have no more than one visit (of up to two visitors) each day
  • visits must be for no more than two hours.

These restrictions might be changed by the Chief Health Officer.  Please check the latest restrictions on the Department of Health website before planning your visit.
