Registered Disability Worker Professional Development

31st March 2026

The Disability Services Commissioner, Jen Jackson-Hall, presented at the ‘Registered Disability Worker Continuous Professional Development’ event on 25 March 2026, hosted by the Victorian Disability Worker Commissioner (VDWC).

The in-person and online event was attended by disability workers registered with the VDWC. Jen spoke about making complaints and about disability services. Jen also acknowledged that this can be very difficult sometimes, but that it’s OK to complain and it can be an important way to create positive change.

Making a complaint can help improve the services people receive and strengthen practices across the disability sector. Disability workers often hear and see more concerns and can support people with disability to raise a complaint if something is not working.

Disability workers, people with disability and other supports can call the Disability Services Commissioner on 1800 677 342 to discuss their concerns and how services can be improved.

Jen spoke about using the 4As (Acknowledge, Answer, Action and Apologise) when responding to a complaint. Information about making a complaint can be found here.

Disability workers were encouraged to be curious, listen deeply, seek support when needed and be open to feedback.
